Planning a reroof or roof replacement is a significant investment. For many homeowners, it’s also unfamiliar territory.
The RANZ Re-Roofing Guide is a practical, independent resource designed to help homeowners understand the reroofing process, make informed decisions, and avoid common issues before work begins.
Developed by New Zealand roofing industry professionals, the guide reflects current building practices and is tailored to local conditions, materials, and compliance requirements.
Why we created the guide.
Reroofing projects often involve complex decisions around materials, systems, scope, and workmanship. Many disputes arise not because of poor intent, but because expectations were unclear or key information wasn’t understood early in the process.
The RANZ Re-Roofing Guide was created to:
Improve consumer understanding of reroofing work in New Zealand
Explain roofing materials, systems, and terminology in plain English
Support clearer conversations between homeowners and roofing contractors
Reduce avoidable misunderstandings and disputes
Help homeowners feel more confident throughout the process
