Live Roofing Skills Battle at RANZ 2023 Conference
Entries close 15 May to be considered for selection to compete for the inaugural title of 'RANZ Metal Roofer of the Year', or 'RANZ Membrane Roofer of the Year'
Two contenders from each category will be selected from entry submissions to compete in the live roofing skills battle at the RANZ 2023 Conference (27 & 28 July) in Nelson. See entry details below, and please note that conference registrations open late April (see here).
The selected contenders' airfares, accommodation and full conference registration will be covered by RANZ with the winner announced after the Skills Battle, at the RANZ Conference Dinner Awards Ceremony. Prize packs for all selected contenders will also be awarded (prizes to be announced).
Contenders will be given roofing details to be completed on modules in a covered area at the Rutherford Hotel in Nelson.
Entry Details - closing 11.59pm 15 May 2023
Conditions of entry: Contenders must work for RANZ member companies, with their support of your entry. No correspondence apart from that required for entry can be provided (refer details per category below). Please note by submitting an entry the selected contenders give RANZ permission to use images and commentary for promotional purposes. Contenders must work for RANZ members showing work details from RANZ member sites in their entries (see details per category below). Entries must be emailed to awards@ranz.co.nz by 11.59pm 15 May 2023, with details outlined per category below. Selected contenders must be able to attend and compete at the RANZ conference 27-28 July 2023 in Nelson, allowing for travel time (travel and conference registration expenses only will be covered by RANZ), and must confirm this within one week of selection notification.
Enter the RANZ Metal Roofer of the Year
Entrants are to supply clear photographs of roofing details which show the skill and care we can expect to see from a highly skilled and professional roofer. The details can be but not limited to: roof penetrations, multiple flashing intersections (e.g. ridge, apron, barge), wall cladding penetrations (windows) or any detail that shows the attention to detail and skill expected. We need a minimum of 5 details with a small description that points out what the detail is and any particular complexity that required a high level of skill to complete it.

Entrants are to supply clear photographs of membrane roofing and/or membrane gutter details which show the skill and care we can expect to see from a highly skilled and professional membrane applicator. Note: due to H&S requirements only single sheet membranes will be assessed (butyl and/or TPO etc.) for entry to the skills battle. The details can be but not limited to: outlets, scuppers, rainheads, parapets, chase details, membrane roofing and corner details, or any details that shows the attention to detail and skill expected. We need a minimum of 5 details with a small description that points out what the detail is and any particular complexity that required a high level of skill to complete.
